Essa semana eu pensei em escrever sobre o passa tempo favorito da maioria dos Irlandeses e de muitas pessoas no mundo inteiro…não, não estou falando da Guinness, estou falando do Chá!
Sim, esse é o verdadeiro Hobby por aqui.
Você verá que um convite para um chá na Irlanda não é só para bebe-lo , é um convite para ter uma conversa, conhecer alguém, bater um papo.
Recusa-lo é visto como grosseiro , mesmo que não seja a intenção.
Eu me lembro que da primeira vez que a outra mulher da minha vida (mãe) ofereceu a agora mulher da minha vida (esposa) para se sentar e tomar um chá, escutou da mesma ” desculpe, eu não tomo isso”, definitivamente não foi uma boa impressão!
Ainda bem que a Ká sendo a mulher inteligente que é acabou aderindo a tradição. (cof-cof)
Não importa se você tomar um gole, ou nenhum…sentar com seu cup of tea te dá credibilidade instantanêa!
Então para vocês que estão planejando uma viagem para Irlanda ou já estão por aqui, não se esqueça desse conselho, quem sabe quantas portas podem ser abertas por ele? Isso é claro que depende se você quer manter uma conversa, caso contrário, é só recusar!
Em contrapartida no Brasil, tentando ser agradável tomei café na minha primeira viagem ao Rio e quase desmaiei, como você deve saber, a temperatura máxima a que um irlandês pode ser submetido antes de derreter é de no máximo 35 graus!
Então da próxima vez no Rio, bebida gelada o tempo inteiro, mas enquanto você estiver na Irlanda, por favor, não recuse um Cup Of Tea.

I thought this week I would write about a favourite pass time of many Irish people and people across the world in various cultures…no I’m not talking about Guinness, I’m Talking about…Tea!
Yes, it’s been a national hobby for Irish people.
You see, tea in Ireland is not just an invitation to drink, it’s an invitation to have a conversation, to get to know someone, to just talk!
A decline of such an invitation could frankly be viewed as being rude here… not that this is anyone’s intention. I remember the first time the other woman in my life (Mother) offered the current woman in my life (Wife) an invitation to sit down for tea and was told “NO, I don’t drink it”…. this was not accepted well!!! Thankfully Ká, being the intelligent woman that she is realised this and has now embraced the tradition!
Doesn’t matter if you take one sip/no sip out of the cup… sitting there with this hot herb in your cup gives you instant credibility!!! So, for those of you who are planning a trip to Ireland or are here all ready… just remember this simple piece of advice and who knows what doors may open up! This obviously depends on if you want to engage in conversation with the person or open begin a rapport if not… just say No!
I experienced the reverse in Brazil, I tried to have a cup of coffee on my first trip to Rio… trying to be friendly and I ended up nearly fainting in the heat…. As everyone knows the melting temperature of an Irishman is about 35 degrees Celsius!!!! So, next time when in Rio… its cold drinks all the way but while you are in Ireland, please don’t refuse a cup of tea !!!

Mas Rosinha, porque vocês não inventaram um chá melhor? Um chá mate! Eu acostumei com o chá irlandês, vermelho com leite, e sei que rende papo, mas o mate só me faz abrir a boca qdo tem um biscoitinho maizena para molhar!

Ka, vc vai traduzir os comentarios pra ele tb? Eh que eu ate falava ingles, mas o francês ocupa nesse momento, toda a parte do meu cerebro destinada às linguas estrangeiras e eu to com preguiça aguda de escrever em inglês.
Pois bem Rosinha, eu morro de vontade de ser convidada pra um cha tipico inglês, ops, irlandes. Por isso, te comunico que vc e sua esposa estao intimidados a me convidar quando eu pisar na irlanda. Ou seja, em breve? Vindo para a França, oferecerei-lhes vinho, fechado?
is it ok if i accept a cup of tea and don`t drink it at all, just for the conversation?? i don`t like tea... by the way, my boyfriend (irish) went to brazil last year, got 8 little coffees (cafezinho) and almost died because of caffeine intoxication! funny...

The first time I saw the cup of tea there in Dublin I was living as an live-in aupair and my boss was english. I always refused when he asked me if I wanted to try. Come one, tea with milk?? I could't understand, after studying natural therapies (and medicinal plants) what kind of tea was that! But well, he was fine with my position. And then I decide do try once when I was alone at home and I LOVED IT!! Nobody knew, but I was having 2 cups of tea per day. Ok, was lonely cup-of-tea moments, but they were specials :-) Miss it!!
Nossa, eu até perdi o que ia comentar, tamanha a vontade que fiquei de me reunir com: os Rosinhas, os Lemos e os ... Lyoneses (Mi, me mata, mas não sei o sobrenome do casal). Aceito, sim, claro. Só falta juntar o dinheiro pra quatro passagens e to chegando! Valeu pelo convite.

Realmente, tomar um chá + bater papo é coisa corriqueira para o povo irish.
Confesso que no início destetei a idéia de beber chá com leite [ECA!]. Mas agora já não posso mais recusar a drop of milk no meu cházinho. A adaptação foi tão grande que de vez em qnd, eu bebo pra curtir a minha própria companhia.
O clube do Chá das 3! está formado: eu + sogritcha + cunhada.
Dica pro Rosinha de passing of time no Rio: suco de abacaxi com hortelã no Arco do Teles ou água de coco na beira da praia.

In my work they offered me "a cup of Tea" all the time and I say NO and do not say only NO, I also say that I don't drink that tea because it taste so bad!!! OMG maybe they think I am not sociable person...ok, next time I will accepted and then I throw it when nobody is looking =D
